Queen

Hi,

Today my eldest son and myself had the opportunity to attend the latest ‘Linn Lounge’ series of musical documentaries, this time ‘The History of Queen’, which was held at Audiovisionaries LLC, one of our local partners, and Linn’s exclusive dealer in Puerto Rico. The system used for the musical presentation was Linn’s newest digital streamer, the Selekt DSM, driving a pair of Linn Exakt Akudorik active speakers.

Mike O’Rouke, Linn’s Sales Manager for the United States, gave us an entertaining and delightful presentation of Queen’s history providing us with some historical innards of Queen’s most famous songs.

As always the musical selection and historical background details were amazing, The playlist was:

  • We Will Rock You (my High School Senior Class theme back in 1979-80!!)
  • Killer Queen
  • Bohemian Rhapsody
  • Another One Bites the Dust (which when played backwards suggest smoking a well known herb!)
  • Crazy Little Thing Called Love
  • Under Pressure
  • A Kind of Magic (Highlander’s movie Theme)

All tracks played were in original master tape quality (at least 96Khz/24bit format FLAC files) and the system sounded amazing. Several times we were given the choice to select which songs to play and believe it or not kids were the ones deciding which songs to play. In my words ‘Proper Parenting!’. The session lasted an hour and as always food and drinks were made available to all.

Kudos to Audiovisionaries and Linn for such enjoyable evening!!!

Enjoy,

Vic

Partners

About two years ago one of my business partners, Audiovisionaries, was interviewed by one of the local online newspapers. By pure coincidence I was visiting their store and I was chosen for a cameo!

Below are some pics taken while documenting the video:

Klimax

Some may wonder about the above word but it’s not what you think (in that sense anyway!). ‘Klimax’ is a range of hi-fi components produced by Linn Products which are designed to produce the most satisfying and musical listening experience ever from any audio system. Last weekend I upgraded a customer Linn LP12 turntable to the latest Linn Klimax power supply (Radikal) and phono stage (Urika II). The power supply provides power to both the motor (24v DC single pole synchronous) and the Urika II phono stage. This phono stage is unique since it sits inside the turntable and converts the fractions of a millivolt analog signal produced by the phono cartridge into a 32-bit 384khz digital signal which is fed into the Linn Klimax DSM preamplifier/streamer using Linn’s proprietary Exakt communications protocol, thus ensuring that no information is lost. The digitalized signal is then converted back to analog by two Linn Klimax Exakt crossovers which feed eight (yes, eight!!!) Linn Klimax Solos amplifiers connected to a pair of Linn Komri speakers.

The customer’s system also has two Sonos music streamers feeding two Linn power amplifiers (LK2 and LK280) to indepedent music zones in the rooms and the terrace.

To ensure proper power is fed to this system independent 240v 50A electrical circuits feed two Torus Power conditioners.

The only thing I can say is that it is an ‘orgasmik’ experience listening to music, specially vinyl, in this system!

Event updates!

Hi,

Two nights in a row the local Linn dealer, Audiovisionaries, and Linn Products presented the latest and greatest offerings from Linn Products as part of the LP12 45th Birthday party events around the world. Customers were greeted with courtesy food, drinks, and even a cake resembling an LP12!

Customers were delighted with a full-fledged Klimax LP12/Klimax DSM/Akudorik audio system using Linn’s Exakt technology. Three demonstration sessions were held instead of the original two due to a larger than expected assistance. In the end it was a blast of music listening sessions way past midnight.

The second night event was held at Poliform in Puerta de Tierra, where we were delighted to listen two different systems, a Klimax DSM with a pair of Akubarik Exakt Isobarik speakers, and a Akurate DSM with a pair of Series 530 Exakt Isobarik speakers.

Listening to Mike O’Rourke, Linn Sales Manager, narrating Pink Floyd’s history while listening to several tracks from the Syd Barret era, the realization that there is some Beatles music played at very low levels at the end of ‘Eclipse’ due to the reuse of recording tapes in Abbey Road Studios, Roger Waters internal struggles while writing music for ‘The Wall’, his departure from the group after recording ‘The Final Cut’, and up to their last recording ‘The Endless River’ was a surrealistic musical experience enjoyed by everyone.

Kudos to Audiovisionaries and Linn Products for both events!
